Semaglutide is the same active ingredient in Wegovy® and Ozempic®. Semaglutide was originally designed to treat type 2 diabetes and has been found to be effective for weight loss.
As a GLP-1 receptor agonist, it helps manage blood sugar while also playing a role in controlling appetite. Recent studies have highlighted its potential in helping individuals with obesity or excess weight achieve significant weight loss. By curbing hunger and enhancing feelings of satiety, semaglutide helps reduce overall calorie consumption.
This makes semaglutide a promising non-surgical option for weight management, especially for those who have struggled with obesity. However, it should always be used under medical supervision, taking into account personal health factors and possible side effects. See Important Safety Risks.
Clinical professionals typically follow a dosing schedule that resembles the following:
Month 1 (weeks 1-4): 0.25mg
Month 2 (weeks 5-8): 0.50mg
Month 3 (weeks 9-12): 1mg
Month 4 (weeks 13-16): 1.7mg
Month 5+ (weeks 17+): 2.4mg
Many patients decide to maintain on a weekly dose below the maximum dose through their course of therapy.
This is not medical advice. The dosages provided are for informational purposes only and do not replace professional medical guidance. Each patient is unique, and physicians determine prescriptions based on individual medical needs. Always consult your physician to determine the appropriate titration schedule and medication.

No, Coby does not require a subscription or membership for any semaglutide weight loss plans. You have the flexibility to pay-as-you go on a monthly basis at transparent the pricing noted. After your order, you will be invited to complete a follow-up visit for the next month. If you do not need a new order of weight loss medication for that month, simply let the team know. The advantage of the Kickstart quarterly weight loss plan for new patients is the added savings by ordering 3 months at a time.
Coby’s weight loss treatment programs include compounded semaglutide in small glass vials for at-home injections. To prepare each dose, clean the vial’s top with an alcohol wipe, draw the correct amount into the syringe, and inject it weekly into your abdomen, thigh, or upper arm, similar to Wegovy® and Ozempic®.
Potential risks for self-administered injections include:
The short answer: yes, a patient can take semaglutide 1.75mg (or 1.7mg) weekly as their maintenance dose. After titrating up your semaglutide dose to this level, your healthcare provider may choose to keep you at this dosage instead of titrating up higher to semaglutide 2.4mg weekly. Your doctor may also decrease your maintenance dose from 2.4mg weekly if you don't tolerate that level. This determination is ultimately subject to your specific health history, tolerance of the medication, and the medical advice from your healthcare provider. Please consult with your provider if you have questions or are interested in using one of these doses as your semaglutide maintenance dose.
When using compounded semaglutide, you should avoid foods that can cause gastrointestinal distress, increase blood sugar levels or add unnecessary calorie. For further discussion on this topic see Coby’s guide on foods to avoid while taking semaglutide.
Semaglutide’s most common side effects often improve within the first few weeks and include nausea, vomiting, upset stomach, and headaches. More severe but rarer side effects can include thyroid cancer, pancreatitis, gallbladder disease, kidney problems, and vision problems. The FDA has issued a Boxed Warning for a potential link between GLP-1 medications and medullary thyroid carcinoma, although this has primarily been observed in animal studies. See the full safety information and details on these side effects at Important Safety Information.
A healthcare provider may prescribe a compounded drug if deemed medically necessary for you. Compounded semaglutide, including products accessed through Coby, is not FDA-approved or evaluated for safety, efficacy, or quality. In contrast, Wegovy® (semaglutide) is FDA-approved for weight loss, and Ozempic® (semaglutide) is FDA-approved for treating type 2 diabetes but may also be prescribed off-label for weight loss at a provider’s discretion.
